Marching Band Electronics FAQ (PDF)
-
New Starting in 2022 – Electronic cables may now cross the sidelines. Students may NOT perform over cables that are on the field, whether they are covered or not. This includes all types of cables
-
New Starting in 2022 – A non-student may intervene during the 8 minute performance clock to address an electronic failure. The school must supply the Region Executive Secretary / Assistant Executive Secretary a written justification for doing so. If the Executive Secretary / Assistant Executive Secretary determine that the justification does not support the action, the Region Executive Committee may proceed with consideration of penalty
-
New Starting in 2022 – The UIL marching band rules advisory committee passed a proposal allowing bands at a contest to check wireless devices only during contest intermissions and during the 7 minute period that includes a band’s 2 minute exit and a band’s 5 minute field entrance. This includes bands in warm-up and other areas around the stadium. All electronics cannot be checked during a band’s 8 minute performance time. This include the use of amplified metronomes
